How to Use Social Media To Promote Your Tradie Business

God gives gifts. They gave us Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. These are gigantic communication platforms that can connect you with potential customers. The problem is most business owners don't have a clue how to use it to their advantage.

Use Social Media to Grab Attention, Not A Sale

Everyone needs attention. Attention is the where the money goes. Social media provides anyone the ability to get connected with millions of people. This is where you can grab someone's attention, even just with the mere suggestion of them needing your service. We now have someone interested. Then you can bring them over to your website (they'll find it in your profile). This is where you can convert the attention into intention. By them filling out the contact form, we now have someone who wants the work done.

There are unlimited ways to grab attention. The trick is to be creative and not put out boring generic sales messages, because people see so many of these they regard it as junk.

Be Authentic, Creative and Helpful on Social Media

I like selfie videos. Just whip your phone out at a job site and start filming yourself. Talk about what you're up to that day. You're showing people you're a real person and a real business, you're providing a bit of insight into your industry to them, and you're building rapport.

Other great content includes interesting job photos, client testimonials, quick tips, updates and specials. You can also post other people's interesting and related content as well.

You Think You're Too Busy For Social Media

You might say Alan, I'm not into social media. I wouldn't know how to do it. I'm busy running my business, I don't have time to do this stuff. Yeah, you're right about one thing, you are busy running your business... into the ground! Social media is a tool in your arsenal of business weapons any switched on business owner would want to leverage for his business. Social media is more than a prospecting tool or traffic source, it's also a credibility pack, a portfolio, a communications device, a method of teaching and raising awareness... it's an online space dedicated to you and your business that isn't your website. Use it, and use it well. Alan Frye
